Fort Cochin is a region in the south-west of the mainland Cochin, Kerala. Rajah granted fort to Portuguese after taking help fromthem to fight Saamoothiri of Kozhikode. Later the Dutch captured the fort from Portuguese in 1683 and destroyed it.Fort Cochin is surrounded by tourist places like Fort Immanuel, Thakur House, Church Road, Bastion Bungalow, Vasco-da Gama square, Pierce Leslie Bungalow, Princess Street, Loafer's corner, VOC gate and Bishop's house. The Parade Ground next to the fort is the place where the Portuguese, Dutch and the British had conducted military parades. It connects to Mundamveli and Vypin Island. With all historical places and oceans around the corner, Fort Cochin is the perfect place to stay.
