Kodanad, located on the south bank of Periyar River, is a rural village of Ernakulam, Kerala. The elephant Training Center in the village is the major tourist attraction spot. During 1950 - 60, Kodanad was the place where the mahouts trained the captured elephants. The Abhayaranyam Mini zoo that spreads over 200 acres is the place where you can spot deers, sambar deers and young elephants. Traditional places in the village include Shiva Temple, St Thomas Church, Edavanakavu temple and St Antony's Syro-Malabar church.
