Agarpara, earlier known as Agrapalli,is a region located in north Kolkata, India and is part of the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority. The place is named after the community Aghore, who were specialized in boat making. The Banerjee Bari, which is 300 years old, is the oldest house located in the region. Ghosh family, Majumder family and Parbat family are the oldest families that are still living in the region. Agarpara Railway Station is part of the Sealdah division main section and provides great connectivity to main cities of West Bengal. The Barrackpore Trunk Road (BT Road) connects the place to Barrackpore. Nilgunj Road, which passes through the place, connects Kolkata with Murshidabad. The Tentultala Bus Stop lies at the junction of Elias Road, North Station Road and BT Road. Boat ferry services are also provided in the place to connect to the other side of river Hoogly.The region is famous for its industries and factories such as Texmaco, Duckback, Priya Biscuits, Tractor India, Himani, and National Tobacco Company. Several educational institutions are also located in the proximity of the region, including Vivekananda Vidyamandir, Path Bhaban Shiksha Niketan, Narula Institute of Technology, and West Bengal University of Technology.
