Bally is a historical town located in Howrah district, West Bengal, India. It is part of the Howrah Municipal Corporation and is at a height of 49 ft from the sea level. The Central Kolkata is just 10 km away from the town. It lies on the banks of River Hoogly and is situated adjacent to the Dakshineswar Kali Temple and Belur Math. The famous man made canal, “Bally Khal” separates the town from the neighbouring town of Uttarpara. The 500-year old Kalyaneswar Temple is located in the town and is visited by thousands of devotees every year. The town has a rich cultural background many festivals like Maha Sivaratri, Charaksankranti, Ramnavami and Rash Mela are celebrated here. Vivekananda Setu and Nivedita Setu connect the town to the Northern banks of Ganges. There are five railway stations located in the town that provide greater connectivity, including Bally Ghat, Bally Halt, Bally Main, Rajchandrapur and Belanagar. The Grand Trunk Road as well as the State Highway 6 also passes through this town.
