Kolkata Airport, known as Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport, is one of the two international airports located in West Bengal, India. It was formerly known as Dum Dum Airport and is just 17 km from the city centre of Kolkata. The airport operates both domestic and international flights and connects to Northeast India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China and Southeast Asia. It is located about 5 mts above the sea level and it is a hub for many air carrier flights, including Air India, Alliance Air, Blue Dart Aviation, Jet Airways, SpiceJet, Zoom Air and others. Several prepaid taxes and air-conditioned buses connect the airport to the Kolkata city. The airport can be reached from Nagerbazar flyover, VIP Road and Kestopur flyover. The Kolkata Suburban Railway Station is the nearest mode of transportation to the airport, which links the Biman Bandar station of the airport through the Jessore Road.
