The landmarks in the historic region of Hyderabad, the Old City include Charminar, Mecca Masjid, the 300-year-old Toli Masjid, Pahadi Sharif, where 400 stairs attracted visitors to this place of worship built by the Nizams. The list goes on with the Golconda Fort, Chowmahalla Palace, Falaknuma Palace, the Nizam Museum, Purani Haveli, Salar Jung Museum, Qutb Shahi Tombs, Paigah Tombs along with one of the oldest commercial suburbs in the city opened in 1947, Madina and Osman Sagar. The Osmania University is also a part of the Old City. With several popular bazaars like the Laad Bazaar, Begum Bazaar, Mozzam Jahi market, Chatta Bazaar, etc. The Old City is well connected by roadways, railways, and airways. Auto rickshaws, TSRTC buses and MMTS are the major modes of transport with Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station, Hyderabad Deccan Railway Station and Rajiv Gandhi International Airport lying in close proximity to the heritage region of Hyderabad called the ‘Old City’.
